The Data Intensive Computing Centre (DICC) was recently invited on 5 May 2026 by the Research Training Unit (RTU) of the Faculty of Medicine to deliver an introductory talk on the pivotal role of High-Performance Computing (HPC) in modern biomedical research in the Single Cell Transcriptomics in Health & Disease Workshop.

As health and disease research increasingly relies on massive datasets—such as those generated by single-cell RNA sequencing—traditional computing infrastructure often becomes a bottleneck. The DICC team took this opportunity to showcase how our advanced computational resources are breaking down these barriers for medical researchers.

During the session, the DICC team highlighted the current deployment of our robust HPC infrastructure within Universiti Malaya. The presentation focused on several key areas of support:
