In recognition of the increasing importance of research computing across many disciplines, Data Intensive Computing Centre (DICC) has made a significant investment in developing the High Performance Computing service, as a way to grow and sustain high performance computing for University of Malaya.

This service, offering and supporting access to the Cluster, is intended to provide UM's campus researchers with state-of-the-art, professionally-administered computing systems and ancillary infrastructure.

Mission

Our mission is to deliver reliable, sustainable computing resources and services to facilitate the use of high-performance computing that meets the computational research demands of the University of Malaya community.

Computing continues to be a tool as vital as experimentation and theory in solving the scientific challenges of the twenty-first century. Fundamental to our mission is enabling computational science, in which interdisciplinary teams of researchers address fundamental problems in research and engineering that require computation.

Cluster Overview

HPC cluster is a 11-node, 702 processor-core and 2.7 TB RAM Linux cluster. It consists of 11 nodes of CPU unit and 2X server for cloud services and computational, also GPU farm consits of 4 servers with K10, K20, K40 and Titan cards.

Collaboration

DICC facilitates research centers and institutes for outreach programs with international organizations by professional planning and administration of resources. We gladly providing and facilitating centers such as, National Centre of Particle Physics (NCPP) has collaboration with the European Organization of Nuclear Research which known as CERN for CMS experiment. DICC provides computational and storage resources for CERN as TIER-2 site in CMS experiment which also make us member of WLCG, DICC for grid usage is part of APROC that make us part of European Grid Initiative (EGI).
